Direct Seeding

Direct Seeding

Sinopse

The Direct Seeding System (DSS), also known as Direct Planting System, is a technique that enables several environmental benefits, as it increases the levels of organic matter and the biological activity of the soil, reduces soil temperature fluctuations, reduces laminar erosion, as well as carrying of fertilizers and pesticides for water sources, reduces the population density of weeds and allows greater conservation of soil moisture, being, therefore, considered a sustainable production system. It is noteworthy that this soil water conservation is generally one of the biggest advantages of the DSS. This is because the crop residues remain on the soil surface, where they act as a barrier to water loss through evaporation, provide an increase in surface roughness, reducing the speed and volume of surface runoff, favoring infiltration and increasing water available for plants.
